How to Book

December is finally here! This means now we are clear for Christmas celebrations! We already wrote about three ways to enjoy the Christmas season in Stockholm for free. Here, we talked about the Christmas lights and the Old Town Christmas Market. And here, we told you about the wonderful Living Christmas Calendar of the Old Town. Today, we have some more tips for you!

First, we recommend that you check out Nordiska Kompaniet (NK) on Hamngatan, in the central part of the city. Besides being beautifully decorated and a landmark for Christmas shopping in town, the department store opened in 1902 puts every year a fantastic Christmas show on its windows. Make sure to check it out!

And there is more, at NK you can also meet Santa Claus! He will be there, ready to listen to your wishes, until the 23rd of December. Until the 11th of December Santa will have the following schedule:

Friday, between 12.00 and 18.00, break 15.00 – 15.30.
Saturday, between 11.00 and 16.00, break 13.30 – 14.00.
Sunday, between 12.00 and 16.00, beak 14.00 – 14.30.

Between the 12th of December and 23rd of December, there is the following schedule:

Monday to Thursday, between 12.00 and 17.00, break 15.00 – 15.30.
Friday, between 12.00 and 18.00, break 15.00 – 15.30.
Saturday, between 11.00 and 16.00, break 13.30 – 14.00.
Sunday, between 12.00 and 16.00, break 14.00 – 14.30.

Now, another activity you can enjoy for free this December, it’s a visit to the Swedish Center for Architecture and Design (Arkitektur- och designcentrum – ArkDes) on the island of Skeppsholmen.

Between the 1st of December until the 8th of January next year you will be able to see wonderful exhibition of gingerbread houses. This year’s theme is “Secrets”, showing the bakers’ innermost secrets.

The participants are divided into three categories: architects, designers and bakers, up to 12 years old and all other bakers. There is free admission to the exhibition and the awards ceremony. There will be a winner in each category and the ceremony will take place on the 18th of December, at 13.30.
