Travel stoRy #43 – Auckland (New Zealand)

Travel stoRy on Tuesday takes you today to the wonderful New Zealand and its largest city, Auckland. The nation made up of two large islands is located in the Pacific Ocean and Auckland lays in the northern part of North Island, also known as Te Ika-a-Māui.

The urban population of the city of Auckland (Ākarana or Tāmaki Makaurau) adds up to a bit more than 1.6 million inhabitants, out of the total population of the country which reaches 4.7 million people.

The picture here depicts the result of the traditional art of carving (whakairo) practiced by Māori people, the indigenous people of New Zealand. Quite unique, isn’t it?
